I have finished all my donation scrap quilts so I thought it was time to start another one.
We have a shelf in the Many Hands and Many Hearts warehouse (formerly my home office) that holds the larger scrap chunks. I pulled some blues, pinks, greens and purples that I thought might look nice together. Lots of florals and lots of tone on tone.
I thought I would make a zipper block. These blocks measure 8.5 x 10.5"unfinished. My plan is for every block to have blue in it. I also want a floral and a tone on tone in each block. I am hoping this will give each block some contrast.
Here are some blocks I made on Saturday. I wish I had considered the green butterflies as a print versus a tone on tone. Thos blocks are a bit busy and I am disappointed I didn't get the contrast I wanted. I will have to try and work them in, or they might just go in the orphan block pile. Right now, it is a bit early to tell.
My plan is to make approximately 40 blocks and then make my decision whether I want the blocks to run vertically or horizontally. I got this quilt design idea from a quilt Diann at Little Penguin Quilts donated to Many Hands.
It looks a mess right now, but I am hopeful it will be a nice scrappy quilt when I get it done.

I'm glad I could inspire you to make zipper blocks! It's fun to see yours. It's definitely true that some fabric combinations work better in these blocks than others, but you'll make a beautiful quilt no matter what. Have a great Sunday, Cyndy!
Perhaps offset with sashing and cornerstones? I think you will like it then.
It's a fun idea for a scappy quilt. Hope you get some time to work on it with everything else going on right now.
