Oh Scrap! : Not My Scraps

Every once in a while, we get a stack of already cut squares in a package.  We do have a space to store these little jewels, but I am usually too inspired to play with bits that aren't my own.

In this case, these were flannel scraps that measured 6" square.  I grabbed all the ones that I thought could work together and started sewing.

In no time at all, I had a sweet little quilt top.  The red stands out a bit, but I think with the right backing and binding, we can make it work.  I will tuck this away now until later in the year.  This will be one of the quilts that go out in the big shipment of kid quilts at the end of the year.

Can you pass up a stack of squares?
I have proven over and over that I obviously can't!

Friday Finishes

Computer problems are so frustrating!

My computer was down for a few days but I am back up and ready to share a few finishes.

There have been a lot of Rail Fence quilts getting finished lately and I have to admit I have loved them all!  This top was made by Mina.  I love her color combinations. Thanks to Nann, we had the perfect peach backing.

This colorful quilt top was sent in by Margie and Linda.  We had to wait a bit to finish this one because I really wanted some Kaffe Fassett fabric for the backing.  I finally gave up the wait and just grabbed a piece from my stash.  It wasn't quite big enough, but Cindy sent in this bright pink.  New longarm quilter Gloria finished this one up - even sewing on the binding.

Gloria also quilted up this very soft and peaceful top sent in by Cheryl.  Cheryl also donated the backing and the binding for this one.  The photos don't do this one justice.  I am intrigued if the panel was one piece and Cheryl cut it into three rectangles.
My little creative mind is going crazy and wants to go pull some panels!

Here is another rail fence quilt top sent in by Mina.  Samantha sent in this turquoise and gray backing - it might look like it doesn't belong but there is actually quite a bit of turquoise on the front.  We were happy to add a touch of that bright yellow seen on the front.

That is it for now.  I picked up a few more finished quilts that I need to get labeled.
I hope to do that this weekend.

Happy Friday!!
