Checked off the list - Finally

I have had the task of finishing up some table runners for my sister for a really long time.  My intentions are always good but I easily get distracted.

I finally finished the last one on the list.
This started as a block for a Fat Quarter Shop quilt along.  I didn't want the block to go to waste so I finished it up this week by adding the checkerboards to the sides.

It has been gray and rainy so photos are a bit difficult.  The colors are actually butterscotch and a dark plum.  Not my choices but I think she will like it.

So a total of five runners are now boxed up and ready to be delivered.  I am slowly checking off items on my UFO list - that is really making me happy!

That's a great use for that block, and I love the checkerboard borders, too! What a pretty pile of tablerunners you have for your sister there - she's going to love them!

Oh those orphan blocks ....honestly; I have 10 "class" projects in bins and as I think about them I begin to wonder how that "block" we started in the class will look as a pot holder, table runner or small wall hanging. Not everything "deserves" to be made into a king size quilt!! Or not every block gives me joy! Besides; I have 6 or more king size tops just waiting for me to get round to quilting them. Oh, how satisfying it is to finish something. Table runners are JOY to me. :)

Runners are the perfect solution for left over blocks! I'm sure your sister will love each and everyone. Better late than never...

I see so many possibilities for using UFO blocks with that checkerboard and making them in to placemats. It turned out really pretty.

I love your dedication to using up orphan blocks. Those checkerboards were a brilliant way to get this block to the size you wanted. Well done!
