Charming Plus Finish

In October, I decided to join Tisha at QuiltyTherapy for her Charming Plus QAL.  I thought it would be a great way to use up more of my black and white scraps.

Some lime green, turquoise and yellow scraps would be a fun colorful addition.

I sewed all the blocks as a leader/ender project.   In no time at all I had a finished quilt.

All of my squares were cut at 3.5" so the quilt measures about 54" by 63".

I was able to pull some older stash for the backing.  I didn't have quite enough of the blue and yellow plaid but adding a bit of yellow along the edge worked perfectly.

I used the piecing as a guide for some puzzle piece quilting.  It adds such a fun detail.

Here s a view from the front so you can see how it works with the blocks.  Lines with bumps are just quilted horizontally, then you just do the same thing vertically.

How happy, scrappy is this quilt!?!

Want to see some more finished Charming Plus quilts?  Head over to Tisha's blog.

Happy Friday Everyone!!

Oh Scrap! : Charming Plus Quilt Top

I was able to spend quite a bit of time sewing this weekend so look what I was able to finish up!  My Charming Plus blocks are now a quilt top and waiting to get quilted. Due to some poor lighting and shadows, a number of the greens look a bit yellow but you will just need to trust me that the colors are very bright and happy.  This time of year the rain breaks are short and my yard is mostly mud.
Photos are always challenging!

But I did capture these pretty fall hues.  The colors of my Fire Glow barberry are stunning and all of my beauty berries are really putting on a show this year.!

Scrappy Plus Blocks

I am so pleased to already share my stacks of Charming Plus blocks!  Each block is 9 .5" square.  I have some lime green, turquoise blue and sunny yellow plus symbols set in all sorts of black and white prints.  I have made 42 blocks so I should end up with a 54 x 63" quilt top.

Now I just need an empty design wall so I can lay these out and sew up the rows!

Are you sewing along with Tisha at QuiltyTherapy and participating in her Charming Plus Quilt Along?
If so, what colors are you using?

Charming Plus Progress

I am just popping in today to share my progress on the charming plus quilt (A quilt along being hosted by Quilty Therapy).

I decided to cut my squares at 3.5" and use only two fabrics in each block.  Once I had everything cut, I paired up fabrics and have them stacked up next to my sewing machine so I can finish them up as a leader/ender project.

Hopefully soon I will have a pile of blocks to share!

Oh Scrap! : Fabric Pull

Last Friday, Tisha at QuiltyTherapy released the first part of her Charming Plus Quilt Along.  Because I am playing along, I thought I would share the fabrics I pulled for my quilt.

My backgrounds are going to be black and white prints with turquoise, yellow and lime green for the plus symbol.  I want to only use two fabrics in each block so I needed to pull some of my larger scrappy chunks.

Many of you may not consider these scraps, but I keep any large chunk smaller than a fat quarter that can be folded on end in large drawers.  I sort by type and then color.  I always try to use my smaller scraps first but if I need a certain color, I can always pull from here.

At what point do you consider a piece of fabric a scrap?
