It's Splendid

It was so nice to find a few hours to sew this weekend.  One of the projects I was able to get caught up on was all of the blocks for my Splendid Sampler.

Here are all of the new ones in no particular order. 

I really enjoyed making the little star block.  The other one was another Baby-Lock free block.

We finally had a paper pieced block.  And in the simple 25 patch, I decided to play a bit with color.

And finally the two for last week.  I think these designs are some of my favorites so far!

Even though they have released 17 blocks, you can see I have a total of 18 finished.  I have been making a few other designs that I have seen in various places and added them to the mix.  So far there have been two blocks I have decided not to include.  Even though these blocks all finish at 6", I am enjoying making my two a week.  Only 83 more to go!

Oh Scrap! : RSC16 Blocks

The scraps have been flying in my sewing room this weekend!  One of the many things I accomplished are my blocks for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge.

Two more chain blocks in orange for the month of April. 

 I put them with all of the previous blocks I have made and was just not in love with what I was seeing.  And when I don't like how my blocks are turning out, I usually do one of two things.  I either start slicing...

...or I put a frame on them. 


My blocks now look like this.  I think it is an improvement but who knows, maybe next month I will take my rotary cutter to them.

The other block I was making for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge was the pig block.  I love these little oinkers but I have no idea what I am going to do with them.  Do I really want to keep making them? 

 I needed some help deciding so I thought...What would Gayle do?....

...and I made an orange pig!

So Scrappy for RSC16

Q2 Finish Along Goals

I was not very successful at meeting many of my first quarter finish along goals.  I only completed one out of the three projects I was hoping to finish.  I was so discouraged, I almost didn't set goals for this quarter.

But because I do know myself pretty well, setting these goals does give me a bit more incentive for finishing things up.  So here goes....

I need to finish the Scrap-A-Palooza quilt I started with these batik strips I came across.  I am hoping to donate this quilt as part of the Hands2Help event with Confessions of a Fabric Addict so that means I need to finish this one up soon.

I also want to finish up this WIP that has been hiding out in a bag for years.  It is all cut out and partially sewn.  It will be really nice to get this one off my list - it is definitely one of the oldest projects on there!

Even though I just started this project using Craftsy's Boundless solids, I want to make sure I finish this one up soon.  Mostly because I have these pretty strips all over my sewing room and I can't get to other projects.

And finally, I need to get sewing on a quilt for one of my siblings.  Rarely do either one of my sisters ask for a quilt, so I am more than happy when I get a request.  (But how can a sister of mine want such boring colors!)




So there you have it...I have three months to get all four of these projects finished.  If I can just keep myself focused, I should have no problem completing them. Ha!
