January = Purple

I love participating in the Rainbow Scrap Challenge with SoScrappy and I love the color Purple.  So I am one happy camper with all the purple projects out there right now.

I decided to make string blocks this year for my RSC quilt.  My color bins all have varying amounts of strings in them so each month I am just making whatever string blocks I can.

Well, my purple bin was overflowing!

Because I had so many strings, I ended up with more than enough blocks to make a lap sized quilt.  I pulled 22 of the 10" blocks and put together this purpliscious scrap quilt.

I found a yard of this blue/purple fabric to use for an inner border and the binding.  I even got fancy and mitered the corners!

I found a big piece of Jen Kingwell's Gardenvale in my backing stash and thought it was perfect.

 I still have some purple blocks left but I just added them to my collection of string blocks.  I am sure they will become something in the future!

I warned you there will probably be a number of string quilts produced this year.  I can't wait for February's color to be announced!

This looks awesome! I have almost no purple scraps right now after cutting up a lot of it for a leader and ender quilt!

This is such a great quilt. I've not done a string quilt, so I shall be observing yours with great interest. You turn out inspiring work, so there may be one in my future.

I really like how the inner border gives the eye a resting place and how it also encourages you to look at each block more individually. Lovely finish!

I was so happy with purple being the color this month and i have been working on busting my smaller and string scraps but I still have a bundle of long strings that need to perhaps becomes an improv jelly roll race but it seems that these purple scraps are never ending. Your quilt looks awesome, congrats on the finish and stash busting.

I'm with you! I love purple and I am loving joining in on RSC2017!
Your lap quilt is so pretty! Of course, I love the colors. I had a shoebox full of scraps and fat quarters, but I was limited on the different prints and colors. Still I have managed to put several blocks together for various quilt tops.
Loving seeing what you and all the others are doing. And like you, I can't wait to see what color next month brings!

The purple strings look so good. You must have had quite the stash to get a quilt's worth.
