Oh Scrap! : Insanity

First, sorry if I didn't respond to some of your comments.  For some reason comment notifications quit coming to my inbox.
I think I have fixed the problem and it looks like everything is back to normal!

A couple years ago, I decided to start saving fabric selvages.  I have been tossing them in a big laundry basket and not really giving them any thought. Now I am not one to store things I never use - so while I am stuck at home, I decided to get them out and see what I could make with them.

I decided to chop them up and sort them by color.

Now I have been sewing them into these long strips.  They measure 5.5" x 18.5".  I have worked through all the red, pink and most of the orange now.

I am committed to finishing this project but I can promise already, that I will no longer be saving my selvages.  I might keep a few with appropriate sayings for more crafty items but in general, they will be going in the bin from now on!

Are you a selvage keeper?

A Covered In Love Finish

I have finished the sixth Covered in Love quilt.  For this layout, I made an offset barn raising design.   I really like how it turned out - so far it is probably a favorite of mine.

There is a surprise on the back.  Kat had sent me a purple and yellow sunflower panel fabric.  I framed it with some yellow bees and added in some solid brown and purple.

I still have one more quilt to finish.  So far I have made six different layout designs from these donated blocks.  I hope to share the last one next Friday!

A big thanks to all who donated blocks.  If you want the tutorial for the block, you can find it here.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Charm Square Conundrum

With more time on my hands right now, I am pulling out some projects with far ahead deadlines.
I may not have the time in the future!

I have been holding onto a couple charm packs to make a Christmas quilt.  I always have a hard time tearing open that little paper band.  And when the pattern doesn't use all of the charms, I have to make decisions on what prints I am going to use and what charms I will toss in the scrap bins.
Scraps are always easier for me to use!

Here are the prints I have decided to use from my Little Tree collection from Lella Boutique.  Now that I have my fabrics, the quilt assembly will probably not take long.

Time to get sewing.

Everybody stay home and stay safe!

Oh Scrap! : Crazy Times

I hope all of you are staying home and keeping safe and healthy.  For years now, I have worked out of my home and it is not uncommon for me to not leave the house for days.  So the sheltering at home has been easy for me.  I hope all of you are adapting well.

But I will admit, I don't do well without a plan.  And right now, the future is anyone's guess. So I find myself without a lot of desire to sew.  I did manage to sew up a couple turquoise string blocks before I put that color bin away.

I added them to some of the other string blocks I have made in the past.  I am recreating this quilt I completed back in 2018  (it immediately sold).  I want it to add to my trunkshow presentation - it needs some new scrappy eye candy.  And I love to talk about colorful string quilts.

Have you ever gone back and remade a quilt you let go?

Show Me Some Love!

I am a project that is unloved!

Cynthia has struggled to finish me since my creation and I want to run away to a better home.

Here are what each of my blocks look like.  I was started as an Rainbow Scrap Challenge in 2019.

Right now, I consist of six 20" blocks and three 7 x 20" edge blocks.  So you could just sew me up and have a 47 x 60" quilt.  Or you could finish up three more blocks and turn me into a 60 x 67" lap quilt.  There are lots of options to finish me up...

Cynthia seems to think a new log cabin project will bring her more joy so she is setting me free.
Will you please adopt and finish me?

Cynthia will ship anywhere in the US for free!

If you would like to adopt me, please let me know in the comments that you are interested.
(Note, your comment should be made directly on my blog and not through Bloglovin' - it does not allow me access to your contact information so I have no way of getting ahold of you if you win.)

I will be selecting a new home from those that are interested sometime on Sunday the 22nd so be sure to comment before then.  If there is more than one candidate, I will select a winner using a random number generator.  Please make sure I can get ahold of you!  If you are not positive if your email is available, please leave it in your comment.  Thanks!

I have been adopted....Thanks for all the offers to give me a new home!

Quilting is more fun than Housework

There are other items being adopted out by quilters so be sure and check them all out.  Also, if you have items you would like to put up for adoption, you have until the 21st to link up.  Time to clean out those UFOs!

Spring 2020 Quilty Orphan Adoption Event

Have you been spending your isolation time in your sewing room?  If you are like me, you have probably spent some time cleaning and digging out old UFOs.  If you have come across some old projects or orphan blocks that you no longer want, consider adopting them out!

Quilting is more fun than Housework

Does this sound like projects you might have?  Well my friends, it is time to get those projects out of our sewing rooms and into the hands of someone that will finish them!  Over the years, I have adopted out over a dozen projects and I have never given them a second thought. (And it felt so good to cross them off my UFO list!

This Quilty Orphan Adoption event helps in getting those projects to quilters that will finish them and give them some much deserved attention.  And I can say from experience, it feels great to release the burden and move onto something you really want to work on!

**************************************************************
Now it is time for this Spring's Quilty Adoption Event!

Orphan Adoption Event
March 19th through March 21st 2019

Here are some more details:

1.  I am going to ask that any "orphan" linked up must be given away for free.  (If you are wanting to destash for money, there are other venues to do that on.)  I think it is fair that if you need to, you can ask that shipping costs be paid.  Just be sure and put that information clearly in your post.  And know that both parties enter into the deal at their own risk.  I hold no responsibility.

2. Have clear pictures and descriptions on what you are putting up for adoption.

3. Define the criteria for how you will decide who will adopt the item.  Is it a random number giveaway, do you only want it to go to charity, or is there some other criteria that needs to be met?

4.  Be sure and identify where you are located and where you are willing to ship to.

5. Define how long you are keeping the adoption open and when you expect to award the adoption.

6. Remember to link back to my blog so your readers can see what else is being offered.  And feel free to grab a button!

The ability to link up your blog, Instagram, Flickr, or Facebook post will be open through the end of the day Saturday March 21st.  You can award your adoption on any date you choose after Sunday the 22nd.  Feel free to offer as little or as much as you want.  It can be blocks, books/patterns, kits, printed panels, fabric, quilt tops...anything that you hope someone else will use and you wish to get rid of the burden.

********************

And if you are looking to adopt a project, please read each blog post and be sure you only offer to adopt those orphans you know you can finishThe object of this event is to get these things finished, not just stored on another shelf.  Thanks!
