Tumbled

Have you seen the newest issue of Quiltmaker magazine yet?  It should be hitting newsstands soon so keep an eye out for it.

QM1708 COVER 500 New Issue: Quiltmaker July/August 17

I am pleased to announce that one of my quilts was published in it!

Remember back in August last year, I was using my AccuQuilt fabric cutter to turn a bunch of my black and white (and red) scraps into these fun tumbler shapes.  If you have a fabric cutter, I highly recommend this little 3" tumbler shape.

(This is the same shape I used to sew up this colorwash quilt.)

The quilt is called 'Tumbled' and it was made by separating all the scrappy black and white prints by value and laying them out so they darken as they move toward the outer border.

Scraps are so much fun to play with!

And before you go, I also thought I would let you know that Connecting Threads currently has a Memorial Day Sale going on right now.  I love to let you know how you can save some money!

Congratulations! I was thinking recently about the tumbler shape and how I had never seen it in a modern quilt ... but now I have! : )

Congratulations on the finish and being published.

I especially like the way you brought the colors out into the border.

I got hold of an AccuQuilt and cut a bunch of tumblers, they were such fun to sew as leaders and enders. The precise cutting made it so easy to join into rows too. I wasn't really sure how to end the quilt though, so I added half blocks of the primary background fabric. It's waiting for binding now, but I think I will cut back so it ends with the colors more the way yours is...

You always have such good ideas!

Congratulations on getting published again, Cyndy! This one is a beauty! I always like the way you lay out colors to go from lighter to darker, like this quilt does.

Congrats on being published (again). It couldn't happen to a nicer person! And funny you should mention Connecting Threads. I just came from their site where I lightened my wallet a bit. *cough* (but with their prices, who can complain?!)

Woohoo! Congratulations! That's a really fun look at tumblers!
And there goes Connecting Threads, tempting me once again. Good thing I always need more fabric, eh?

Congrats Cynthia! This looks like a fun project - fairly simple to piece and the look is truly determined by fabric choices and layout. Nice!

Congrats. My issue came today, but I haven't looked at it yet. Lots of drama in that project. I love red and black together.
