Our temperatures lately have been in the upper 80s and the 90s. Way too hot for me!
And WAY too hot to be working on a flannel quilt but that is what I have been doing.
I started this quilt is March. It was actually a kit for some big flannel 3D pumpkins but upon reading the instructions, they were so complex, I decided to just cut all the fabric into 2.5" strips and make a quilt with the fabric. So Much Easier!
I finally finished hand sewing the binding this week.
The quilt finished at 60" x 70"
I was able to use almost all of the fabric, ending up with just a few short strips of fabric.
I quilted it with swirls - they create such a fun texture.
I rarely use flannel so I had nothing in my stash for the back. I was able to find a solid pumpkin flannel for the backing and the binding.
...and I didn't put anything else in my cart!
Now I can put this quilt aside and bring it back out in the Fall.
Right now, it is far too hot for flannel!
Wishing all of you a wonderful weekend!

turned out really nice - the quilt I'm currently working on is flannel also but it is on my hand quilting frame so it is off of me and I'm piecing another with flannel but it is a table topper so not hot to work with (so far)
I love your flannel quilt. The quilting shows up so nicely on it. I have made one or two flannel quilts (for young men in my life) and have really liked how they turned out. I live in a warm climate, so I don't think of working with flannel much, but maybe I should reconsider that. It would so cozy to have a flannel throw on those chilly and rainy winter days.
That looks like the perfect use for that flannel! I would also much rather do something with strips than a more complicated design. Great finish! I've been hearing that Oregon warmed up this week - hope you're finding ways to stay cool!
How warm and cozy your pumpkin coloured quilt looks!
Love it! and now you have a new quilt just waiting for you this fall when the temps get cooler!
This is going to be so cozy come fall. It makes me want something pumpkin spice right now.
Simple framed squares sounds like a fabulous way to use those pretty autumnal flannels! And now Janine has me thinking about pumpkin spice...
What a warm, wonderful quilt!! It is sure to be super cozy.
You will be so happy to have this quilt on your bed in the fall. The colors are soft and blend beautifully, a perfect fall quilt. The pumpkins would not have kept you warm.
I applaud you for setting the intended pattern aside and doing what worked for you. The result is pretty fabulous, and those splashes of red are perfectly placed!
Oh that just makes such a pretty cozy quilt for fall and it would also make a great guy quilt.
Very nice. I can imagine snuggling under it on a cool day or evening.
LOVE this quilt! It's going to be perfectly cozy on those cool autumn nights!
