Oh Scrap! : Finally Purple!

Even though today is the first day of September, I already have some of my Rainbow Scrap Challenge blocks finished for the month.  I was pretty confident that this month was going to be purple so I started working on some blocks last week.

It has been a LONG time since we have broken out our purple bins!

This block is called the Bright Hope block and many of you have asked me for a tutorial.  There is already one at Red Pepper Quilts that you can find here.

I did cut my pieces a little larger.  The square is 2.5" and the rectangles are 2.5" x 4.5".
So that means my blocks will finish at 6" square.

These blocks do require you to sew a partial seam but don't get intimidated by them - take it slow until you get the hang of it and you will become a pro after just a few blocks.

It is now your turn to share what you are making with scraps.  Here are the details for linking up:

  • This linky party is for any scrappy project - It can be in-process or a finished piece.
  • You can link up your blog post (not your homepage please) or Instagram photo from the past week that features your use of scraps.
  • If you are linking to a blog post, I ask that you link back to my blog somewhere in your post. So if you are writing about scraps, just get into the habit of including a link as there will be a linky party available every week!
  • If you are using Instagram, please use the hashtag #ohscrap.
  • This is a party so remember to socialize and comment on the posts of others.
  • Following my blog is not necessary but it sure would be great if you do!

I've made 2 crib quilts using the Bright Hopes pattern, it was so much fun! The partial seams aren't a big deal at all. Happy Stitching!

Thanks for the link to the pattern! I'm glad you got to bust out your purple scraps. I think there are some colors that rarely see the light of day and purple is one of those for me. I never seem to have a good variety of that color either!

Your Bright Hopes blocks look great with their purple! I enjoy making those blocks, too - I was a little leery of the partial seam at first, but it only took a couple blocks to get it down. Enjoy your Sunday, Cyndy!
