Oh Scrap! : Working with Scraps

I am still working my way through my scrap bins looking for quick projects that clean up some of those hard to place scraps.  I came across a bag of citron green and gray bits.

I first used my fabric cutter to chunk up some of the larger pieces into 120 4.5" squares.  These will make a cute little scrappy patchwork baby quilt.  Right now, I put them in my Etsy shop but I may sew this up in the future.

That left me with a bunch of strings and smaller pieces which quickly became 20 string blocks.  The blocks finish out at 8" so there really wasn't enough for a small quilt.
So I knew I just had to get creative!

I dug in my stash and found some chunks of gray fabric to add to the mix.  I tried a few different layouts and decided this one was the best.

It sure feels good when I get a bag of these scraps cleaned up!
Now to get this one quilted up....

Not a color combination I would have considered, but I like it. Great use of scraps and color. Beautiful finish!

great looking quilt. I do not have much gray in my stash, I think I used most of it on the quilting that I am hand quilting right now in. This week I am hand stitching binding on a baby scrappy quilt.

Love the color combo! And I've never thought of using string blocks with anything other than strings...good idea to substitute stash chunks!

This is lovely - so often we think we have to make every block the same, when adding some solid blocks really highlights the scrap blocks and makes the design pop out even more.

Hard to believe that's "just" a scrap quilt; it looks so well coordinated and pretty. I love the color combinations and nothing looks random! It's gorgeous!

I just starting playing with making some scrappy strip blocks. Love this pattern and could use black in place of the grey to contrast with my bright strips. Thanks for the inspiration!

Love the citron and grey combination! You and your scraps, always inspiring. I feel like I need to go cut up all my unused and unwanted prints for a project like this!

Love the layout that lets you finish without having enough string blocks for the whole quilt! And the grey and citron is a lovely combination!
