Happy May Day! Every May first, I have fond memories of when I was a small child. I would make paper baskets and fill them with handpicked flowers and leave them on my neighbors' front door. I might have to start doing that again...but I fear I will not be able to run fast enough to get away after I ring the doorbell!
With April behind us, it is time again to share my progress on my Quilty 365 blocks. The blocks for April are the four along the bottom.
I have been keeping up with my blocks but I am ready to admit, I am rethinking this quilt. Don't get me wrong, I really like it but I am not sure it is a quilt I want to keep for myself.
This quilt is going to be huge when it is completed. Here is a photo of all 18 blocks I have completed since the beginning of the year.
If I stop at 40 blocks, I can turn them into two very cute I-spy donation quilts. I am not quite ready to make that decision but it will be an option later this summer.
...But it has been a great project for using my scraps!
Before we get to sharing your scrap projects, I just want to remind you my patterns are on sale for just this weekend - including my newest Spin! pattern. And don't forget to enter the giveaway!

Many people are making the Quilty 365 project, so many that Blogland is full of circles of difference sizes and even a few elongated circles (Orange Peel), which I love. I think yours is so different that one has to wonder if you are participating to the Quilty 365 or it's just a coincidence. I love it but I understand we can't keep all the quilts we make. But I really like the design on this one. It would make a great "I Spy" quilt. Good luck with the decision. ;^)
Making I spy quilts out it sounds just fine ;)
I love the way you are making your circle quilt - I would keep it I love the layout
With my "vacation" from sewing lasting who knows how long, I've been thinking I may have to abandon my Quilty 365 project. I probably have enough squares for a smallish quilt. I guess time will tell if it's something I can catch back up on! I've always admired your unique idea and layout. It would make fun eye spy quilts!
May 1st already! I remember May Day and putting flowers on neighbors doorsteps! I never did, I always put them on our doorstep! In grade school we even did the May Pole!! Yes your 365 quilt is going to be huge. What ever you decide to do is perfectly understandable. You've stuck with it though!
I remember May Day flower baskets. That would be a fun tradition to start up again.
I like your unique layout for the Quilty 365. I knew I probably wouldn't stick with 365 days of circles if I didn't personalize it so made mine a journal. So far so good. But, you are right, if you are not in love with it at this point might as well abandon and make good use of what you have.
Deciding which quilts to keep and which to give away is always hard. In the end, as long as someone loves it, then it was time well spent. After all, it is all about the process.
I love those circles used as sashing! Someone will love those quilts.
I know what you mean when quilts grow too big. Mind you I love what you're doing with your quilt so I'll take it off your hands when finished (of course) if you like. Lol
i sure like the combo of circles and triangles
Once again your creative genius has come to light with your layout, which is highlights the individual blocks so well. Maybe you'll have enough to make 3 charity quilts this year! I remember doing the May Day Baskets - we'd make paper cones, put the flowers in, place on doorstep, ring bell, and run away as fast as could be. Right now, there's NO way I could surprise anyone by running away, lol.
Whoa - that is some layout! Theses such a great project. It's interesting to see everyone's interpretation of it!
You'll see from my link-up post that I stayed with my original intent to limit my project to six months of circles. I like your idea of two I-spy comfort quilts from your colorful blocks - all together that WOULD be one huge quilt.
Some quilts are like that.:) Yours is a great interpretation though. Love seeing the progress!
Nice to have time to think. I'm all about changing horses in the middle of the stream(or plans in the middle of a quilt).
