Look What I Finally Finished

I don't often have much time to sew quilts for myself anymore.  But I did finish one recently that I am in love with.

Remember these improv blocks I was making?

I finally set them on point and made this lovely quilt.

I did some fun, simple quilting on it.  Played around with thread color for some fun effects.

I want to make another one in hot colors now.  I certainly have enough solid scraps to make one (actually more than one)!

My initial plan was for this to be a Compassion Quilt.  But now that it is finished, I am thinking I might work it into my trunkshow and donate the one I am replacing to Compassion Quilts.  I need to look at the quilts I have and where this one fits into my presentation.

Right now I am trying to limit the number of quilts I keep.  Eventually quite a number of the quilts around here are going to get donated!

Yeesh!  How many quilts does one need - I only use three of them.

This second quilt is not one I made, but I did give some of my fabric strips to one of my sewing elves and this is what she came up with.  It is certainly bright and happy!

I had a gray and white flannel I have been wanting to use.  I decided it would work on this one.  This quilt really didn't need any more color on the back.

Next week I will be getting back to sharing the Happy Block quilts.  And maybe even a few quilts that the tops were made by others.  I have been very busy lately!

Hope all of you have a great weekend!

Oh, I love how the improv block quilt came together. They seem to float up off of the background.

Awesome scrap quilt! It would be a great addition to your trunk

Both quilts are bright and fun. Sometimes there are just those quilts that you need to keep a bit longer so you can enjoy them, before they go out the door.

Definitely share that finish in your future trunk shows! It is a winner!! I like the strip quilt too. . .so bright and cheery.

Your improv quilt is so amazing! I just love your sense of color, and how you make it flow from one end of the quilt to the other. I wish I could take a class from you on how to do that!

I do remember the improv blocks you were making, and I love the finished quilt! How many quilts to keep I think becomes a challenge for most of us. I would most likely keep the new one and find a way to include it in the trunk show. It will be an inspiration to other quilters.
