With all of the Compassion Quilts I have been making, I end up with a massive amount of scrap fabric from trimming the backing after they are quilted.
This past week, I spent quite a few days turning all of them into prepared bindings.
I have grouped them all by color and made a lot of pieced bindings. Above are the ones I completed on Saturday. Hopefully this will be the last of them for a bit.
I love having a big stash of prepared bindings. This means once I get a quilt all quilted, I can immediately get a binding sewn on and call it finished.
Someday all of them will find the perfect home!
(BTW - If you are still working on Happy Blocks for the current block drive, it would be great if you can get them to me soon. The next block drive will be announced at the end of this month!)

Great idea to make the bindings ahead, especially with the number of quilts you make! And it keeps the scraps tidied up!
I haven't made bindings ahead or had a stash of bindings. What a good plan! I don't doubt that all of those will find a home. About as close as I get to that process is making the binding when I finish the top. Like you, when the quilting is finished, I want to sew the binding on and be on to the next project!

I like your idea of making prepared binding. I have come across excess binding in my scrap bins which is always a treat, but haven’t thought of keeping them together.
I often use the cut offs from backing to make binding. It is great you've got a binding "stash." I've got some blocks to send off to you. I'll try to get them in the mail on Tuesday. Happy Blocks are one of my favorite blocks and I make them frequently.

It's interesting to read about different approaches to binding -- some quilters cut binding and keep with with the WIP, you prepare rolls in advance. I cut it when I need it. I don't need the binding to be made out of any fabrics in the quilt (front or back), just that it frames the piece nicely.
How neat to have your binding rolls all ready to roll as it were. :D
