With Help From Friends

Rail Fence Blocks have been filling my mailbox every day.  I have been sewing like mad to keep up.  I should have a couple finishes to share soon.

But I have a few other finishes to share - thanks to some friends too!

A while back, I think I had shared that I made up some donation quilt kits with fabric, a pattern and backing material.  Well, a good friend came over for a play date and sewed one of them up for me.

I had pulled all of the fabrics from my stash/scraps.
Some of it had been in my stash for a really long time.

The inspiration for this kit was this cute cherry backing.  I think this fabric may have come from my grandmother decades ago.  It was easy pulling fabrics from my stash to match it.

The quilt measures 35" x 44"

I think I also shared that another friend donated a bunch of flannel leftovers.  I instantly fell for this cute ladybug fabric.  There were a couple other pieces that looked great with it so I cut them into rectangles. (I could have cut them into squares, but my lazy self knew bigger pieces mean a quicker finish!)

I think these prints all look fantastic together!

I had just enough of all the fabrics to make this cute diagonal design - even though I did need to piece a few of the rectangles.
(Sorry about the sideways photo.)

There was even a piece of aqua flannel big enough for a backing.  And a yellow that would work for a binding.  WooHoo!

This is another small size at just 31" x 37" - but boy is it soft and snuggly!

And finally - check out this lovely blue quilt.  It was sent in by Sue all finished!

I really like the simplicity of the block on this one.  And the fabrics she chose were yummy.

Check out the backing - this green is such a fun surprise! So bright and uplifting!

This quilt measures 41" x 58"

So I think right now, I have over ten quilts stacked up to go to the hospital.  And that doesn't count all the quilts waiting in the queue for quilting or binding.

A huge thanks to all my friends who are helping me with this project!

(FYI - if you are sending in blocks, if you can have your blocks to me by the end of January, that would be awesome.  I am hoping to come out with the next block in March so that gives me the month of February to get the rail fence quilts finished. Thanks so much!)

See you Friday with a few more finishes!

Fat Quarter Shop has some great basics of the month for January.

A little help from friends goes a long way! The flannel quilt is adorable and I bet is is super soft and snuggly. And wow, that green backing is a really fun surprise (and I love how it ties in with the green in the stripe print in the quilt top). Fantastic, all of them!

OK - this post answered the question I left on the last post! So disregard please.

LOVE the variety of quilts. Also, the pop of green is such a cheery surprise on the back of the blue quilt.
Your work is amazing Cynthia - what a project you have taken on. Your community is so fortunate to have you.
